I've said this before.. to many other teams that value those guys with more room cash wise... Leafs I'm afraid are going to get outbid, happens... or have to overspend...Not good.

Look at the Gavrikov deal... for a 2nd pair D man at best.

And with Holl basically gone - whatever you think of him and around here that's not much .. he ate a lot of minutes and PK'd.. that needs to be replaced... And I don' think you can do that for less than 3 mil.

Lilly and Gio as a 3rd pair.. ain't bad.. if you can limit them to 12 or so a night... I just see Gio holding up this yr.

Wilson is 29, coming off of a 33 game season, due to injuries. He's a Toronto Boy. Van Riemsdyk is 32. The Caps missed the playoffs and need to get younger. OV is getting near 40 and Backstom isn't far behind. Adding a younger, dynamic winger would give them more offense. Leafs would be trading a point per game winger for the toughness and grit they need. Seems like it could work. Too bad we couldn't work Murray into the deal.
